Getting to know me icebreaker for Blog On MSI

Sharing is caring!

In a couple of weeks I am going to my first ever blogging conference, Blog On MSI (in Manchester). I’m very excited about it. I’m looking forward to meeting lots of people that I’ve been chatting to on social media this year. The sessions look really good and I think I’m going to learn a lot. I’ll be choosing to attend a lot of the photography sessions as I think that’s the area I need to improve most.

The conference organisers have encouraged attendees to take part in a ‘getting to know me icebreaker’. Attendees write a blog post that they upload on their site, so other attendees can have a nosey and get to know them prior to the conference. Blog On have provided a set of questions for bloggers to answer, so here are mine below.

We were a little denim jacket gang for Easter, complete with bunny ears (that fell off every 0.2 seconds). ?New blog post up today – a review of the @mama_jewels_co_uk Liberty print personalised initial bracelet that I’m wearing here (you can just about see it). I’m giving one away too so if you want to be in with a chance to win one, go enter now: https://nomipalony.com/mama-jewels-liberty-london-print-personalised-initial-bracelet-review/ (link also in about)

Describe yourself in three words?

Extroverted, feisty, chatty

How long have you been blogging and what made you start?

I’ve been blogging for just over a year. I had wanted to start blogging for years but having my son and that changing the way I viewed myself and the world around me prompted me to finally take the plunge.

What was the inspiration behind your blog name?

My blog name is just my nickname from my family. I couldn’t think of anything jazzy that didn’t restrict the blog’s growth – I wanted to be able to write about anything I fancied. I didn’t want to call the blog my real name as I worried that employers could easily bring up so much personal information about me if I did that and I don’t want to sanitise my blog for their sake so I chose my nickname.

What is the best thing to come from your blog so far?

New friends.

Your most remembered thing from your childhood

I have a pretty good memory so remember loads of it. I’m not sure I can narrow it down. I moved house/school when I was 5/6 and I remember that all vividly.

Something interesting you might not know about me is . . .

I share ancestry with Hilary Roddam Clinton

Which social media platform best describes your personality and why?

My Instagram stories, that’s where you can get to know me best.

What is your happy song?

The Smiths, This Charming Man

What is your favourite alcoholic drink

Beer

What is your favourite cake?

Black forest gateaux

What is your favourite takeaway dish?

King Prawn with mushrooms from the Chinese

Where is your dream holiday destination and why?

I’ve never been to Australia and really want to go. I think it will be my kinda place.

What would your superhero name be?

Nyx

If you had a magical power, would you want to have and why?

The ability to transport myself and my family. Family holidays would become so much easier!

What one weapon would help you survive a zombie apocalypse?

A really good knife

If you could send something into space, what would it be?

All right-wing politicians across the globe right now!

What would you have on your gravestone?

Be kind to each other.

You make headline news around the world in 2 years time… but for what reason?

A viral blog post or vlog hopefully!

If an EMP wiped out all mechanical forms of transport, how would you get to BlogOn?

I’d use my transportation super power above – see told you it was a good un.

Whether you are going to Blog On or not, I hope that my answers help you get to know me better. If you are going to Blog On – I look forward to meeting you! Be gentle with me, I’m a newbie.

  2. Hahahah I love some of those answers – shortest and snappiest superhero name yet! I like it a lot. I also like your blog name – it’s got an excellent roll to it. Being a family nickname explains a lot.
Thank you for taking part. Jenny – commenting on behalf of myself and BlogOn 🙂

  3. Love these!! I agree it’s the new friendships that makes blogging more fun! I’d like the power of transportation too-we have had far too many long car journeys the last few weeks!

  5. You must go to Australia if you get the chance. My wife is half-Aussie so we’ve been there several times. If I could live anywhere else in the world it would be Sydney …
