About us

I’m Nyomi. I’m 34 and a part-time project officer/part-time blogger and vlogger from the North East of England. I love music, gigs/festivals, Harry Potter, and I think nothing is more powerful than when women support other women.

Our family comprises of myself; Papa Ginge (he’s 2 days younger than me – the swine), who is a self-professed IT geek; Sensitive Arlo, 6; and little Lena who is 3 and a total firecracker (we are all a little scared of her). Both my kids despise sleep. I love sleep but last saw it in 2011 so be patient with me when I inevitably balls things up, I’m truly knackered. We are gentle parents, pro attachment parenting, pro breastfeeding and natural term weaning, babywearers, and we bed-share with both of our children. I’m currently still breastfeeding my daughter as she approaches her 3rd birthday and we intend to let her self wean.

I started this blog at the very end of January 2016. I had wanted to set up a blog for ages but it took me years to finally get around to it.

Nomipalony is my childhood (and adulthood) nickname from my family and that’s how it ended up being the name for the blog. It’s pronounced like ‘gnome-y pal own-y’. Palony (in various spellings) also means ‘woman’ in polari slang so is a perfect nickname for me and this feminist site that often concerns itself with all things to do with womanhood.

I post regularly about modern motherhood, parenting, our family life, things to do and reviews. I’m also a passionate feminist so there will be frequent equality rants. One of my core values is to build other women up instead of tearing them down so this is a key theme underpinning this blog. I want this to be a safe space with no judgement. I’m currently in the middle of a raw body positivity series. We are keen foodies (greedy pigs) so you will also see restaurant reviews and the occasional recipe.

I’m an open book and rarely censor myself so expect me to be very open and say/show you things you may think should be private (like my birth or breastfeeding photos). I’ve always been this way (blame my mother) and that’s one of the reasons I have this blog – my extroversion knows no bounds! Also, expect swears on this site. I enjoy a good swear and think the world is duller when its sanitised.

When I post, it’s for a couple of reasons – I think what I’m posting might help you (either practically or just to make you feel better) or I’m trying to make you laugh. I really hope my posts achieve these objectives!

We also post regular vlogs over on YouTube so be sure to check that out if you want to get to know us better. You can get a taste of what our family vlogs are like in our short YouTube trailer below:
